Honor Magic V5 with Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, 2K Foldable Display Launched in China

Honor has officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, in China. The new book-style foldable comes packed with premium hardware, including Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, up to 1TB of storage, and a massive 7.95-inch 2K foldable display. It also boasts IP58 and IP59 ratings, highlighting improved durability against dust and water.

The Magic V5 features a 7.95-inch flexible OLED inner display with a 2K resolution, peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, and a 4,320Hz PWM dimming rate for reduced eye strain. The cover screen measures 6.45 inches and uses an LTPO OLED panel, allowing for dynamic refresh rate adjustments to balance smoothness and power efficiency.

Under the hood, the device runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. It ships with MagicOS 9.1, based on Android 15, and includes Deepseek AI-powered productivity tools aimed at enhancing multitasking and user efficiency.

For photography, the Magic V5 houses a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS and up to 3x optical zoom. The phone is equipped with two 20MP front cameras, one placed on the inner screen and the other on the cover display, designed for selfies and video calls.

Battery capacity varies slightly by model. The 16GB + 1TB variant includes a 6,100mAh battery, while the other versions come with a 5,820mAh unit. All models support 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

The device also includes a wide range of connectivity options such as dual nano-SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. In terms of design, it weighs approximately 217 grams, measures 8.8mm thick when folded, and just 4.1mm when unfolded.

Honor Magic V5: Pricing and Availability

In China, the Honor Magic V5 starts at CNY 8,999 (approx. ₹1,07,500) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 16GB + 512GB model is priced at CNY 9,999 (approx. ₹1,19,500), while the top-tier 16GB + 1TB version costs CNY 10,999 (approx. ₹1,31,400).

The foldable is available in four colour options: Dawn Gold, Silk Road Dunhuang, Velvet Black, and Warm White (translated). Pre-orders are already live via Honor’s official website in China, with sales scheduled to begin on July 4.
