Reliance Jio users face major outage in key cities, third disruption in a month

Reliance Jio customers in several major Indian cities faced significant connectivity issues beginning around 8:10 PM on July 6. Affected users reported being unable to make calls or access mobile internet services, with disruptions concentrated in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gujarat, and Kochi.

According to DownDetector, more than 11,000 complaints were logged within hours of the outage. About 81% of users reported problems with mobile signals, 13% experienced mobile internet issues, and 6% faced difficulties with mobile phone functionality.

This is the third major outage for Jio in less than a month, following disruptions in Kerala on June 16, Gujarat on June 29, and Madhya Pradesh on July 1.

While some users expressed frustration on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), others noted that the problem did not affect all users, with some members of The Times of India Tech team confirming uninterrupted service on their devices.

One user posted on X: “Jio network here was completely down from 8:15 PM yesterday, all of a sudden. There was literally no network coverage for hours. You couldn’t even make a call or send a text msg.”

Reliance Jio has yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of the outage or the expected resolution time.
