Google confirmed that many of Gmail’s new capabilities are powered by Gemini 3, its latest AI model. This marks one of the biggest upgrades to Gmail since its original launch in 2004.
With over 3 billion users worldwide, Gmail is now evolving into a more proactive assistant rather than just an email client. The new features include:
- AI Overviews for email summaries
- Natural language inbox search
- Smart drafting with Help Me Write
- Context-aware Suggested Replies
- Intelligent prioritisation with AI Inbox
The rollout begins in the United States, starting with English language support. Google confirmed that more regions and languages will be added over time.
