AWS introduces user agent string support for partner revenue measurement
AWS has released a new feature for Partner Revenue Measurement, supporting User Agent strings to help partners track AWS service consumption. This enhancement provides insights into revenue impact and product usage patterns.
AWS has announced the general availability of a new feature for Partner Revenue Measurement, which now supports the use of User Agent strings for certain AWS services. This enhancement allows AWS Partners to track and measure the consumption of AWS services driven by their solutions through AWS APIs and SDKs. The Partner Revenue Measurement tool helps partners gain insights into their impact on AWS revenue and understand product consumption patterns more effectively.
The new User Agent string feature enables partners to embed a unique product code from their AWS Marketplace listing as a user agent. This allows them to quantify and measure the revenue impact of their solutions across specified services. Partners can incorporate a user agent in the format APN_1.1/pc_<AWS Marketplace product-code>$ into their applications. This facilitates the measurement of AWS service consumption across both partner-managed and customer-managed accounts.
Additionally, partners have the option to set an environment variable in their SDKs or configure a setting in their AWS shared configuration file. This automatically applies the User Agent string to all AWS service calls. The feature supports automated deployments across various AWS SDKs, including Python, Node.js, Java, and Kotlin. It aids in capturing attribution for API-driven workloads and complements existing Partner Revenue Measurement capabilities such as Resource Tagging and AWS Marketplace Metering integration.
The Partner Revenue Measurement tool is available in all commercial regions. For more information on implementing the User Agent string, partners can refer to the User Agent implementation guide and check the list of supported services. Additionally, the onboarding guide offers further details about the capabilities of Partner Revenue Measurement.
