AWS Transform now integrated with Kiro and VS Code
AWS Transform is now available in Kiro and VS Code, enabling developers to perform custom transformations directly within these platforms. This integration aims to streamline enterprise transformation processes.
AWS Transform, the agentic migration and modernization tool, is now accessible through two popular developer platforms: Kiro and VS Code. This tool is designed to significantly reduce the time required for enterprise transformation projects, cutting down timelines from years to mere months. AWS Transform manages a wide range of tasks, including large-scale infrastructure migrations and continuous reduction of technical debt, all without the manual processes and context loss that often hinder such programs.
With the latest release, developers can now initiate AWS Transform custom transformations directly from their preferred work environments. Users can install the AWS Transform Power in Kiro or the AWS Transform extension in VS Code. These custom transformations are particularly useful for managing tech debt on a large scale. Developers can choose from AWS-managed transformations for common tasks such as upgrading Java, Python, and Node.js versions, or migrating AWS SDKs like moving from boto2 to boto3, Java SDK v1 to v2, and JS SDK v2 to v3. Additionally, users have the option to create their own custom transformations.
The integration with Kiro and VS Code facilitates easier discovery of new capabilities as they are released. It also allows developers to build and iterate on custom transformations and execute any agent repeatedly or across multiple repositories simultaneously. These custom transformations are part of an expanding library of playbooks available in developer tools, enhancing the existing AWS Transform web console and CLI. This integration enables users to start a job in their IDE, monitor progress in the web console, and complete transformations wherever it is most convenient, with job state and context seamlessly shared across all platforms.
AWS Transform is available for deployment in all AWS commercial regions, with AWS Transform custom currently available in US East (N. Virginia) and Europe (Frankfurt). For further information, users can visit the AWS Transform product page and user guide.
