Amazon Redshift Serverless expands to Melbourne and Calgary regions

Amazon Redshift Serverless is now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) and Canada West (Calgary) regions, allowing users to run analytics without managing data warehouse clusters.

Amazon Redshift Serverless, a service that enables users to run and scale analytics without the need to manage data warehouse clusters, is now generally available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) and Canada West (Calgary) regions. This service empowers data analysts, developers, and data scientists to retrieve insights from data in just seconds, thanks to its automatic provisioning and intelligent scaling of data warehouse capacity. Users are charged only for the compute power utilized during their workloads, calculated on a per-second basis.

The introduction of Amazon Redshift Serverless allows users to seamlessly integrate with existing analytics and business intelligence applications without requiring any modifications. By accessing the AWS Management Console, users can quickly begin querying data using the Query Editor V2 or their preferred tools without the need for complex configurations such as choosing node types, node count, or workload management.

Within this environment, users can create databases, schemas, and tables, and import their data from Amazon S3. Additionally, they can access data through Amazon Redshift data shares or restore from an existing Amazon Redshift provisioned cluster snapshot. Amazon Redshift Serverless also supports direct queries on data stored in open formats like Apache Parquet and Apache Iceberg within Amazon S3 data lakes. This service offers unified billing for queries across these data sources, enabling efficient cost monitoring and management.
