AWS introduces availability notifications for regional capabilities

AWS has launched availability notifications for AWS Capabilities by Region, allowing users to receive automatic alerts when services or features become available in specific Regions.

AWS has introduced a new feature within the AWS Builder Center called availability notifications for AWS Capabilities by Region. This subscription-based system is designed to automatically notify users when AWS services or features become available in their selected Regions. This enhancement aims to simplify the process for builders to monitor the availability of over 1,500 services and features across 37 AWS Regions, facilitating more efficient infrastructure planning and deployment decisions.

Through this system, users can subscribe to notifications at the service level via the AWS Builder Center interface. The subscription covers all underlying features in the chosen Regions, eliminating the need to track each feature individually. Notifications are provided through two main channels: immediate in-app alerts within the AWS Builder Center and a weekly email summary. Users can manage their subscriptions and notification settings through the ‘Settings > Notifications’ section in the AWS Builder Center.

This new feature is particularly useful for scenarios such as monitoring the launch of specific capabilities, ensuring service parity across AWS Regions, and preparing for migrations or regional expansions. For instance, a solutions architect who is expanding a generative AI application into new Regions can subscribe to updates for Amazon Bedrock. This ensures they receive automatic notifications as new features like Knowledge Bases and Guardrails become available, streamlining their expansion efforts.
