Amazon EC2 C8gn instances expand to new regions
Amazon EC2 C8gn instances, featuring the latest AWS Graviton4 processors, are now available in additional regions, offering improved performance and enhanced networking capabilities.
Amazon has announced the expansion of its Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) C8gn instances, which are now available in additional regions. These instances, powered by the latest AWS Graviton4 processors, can now be accessed in the Asia Pacific regions of Jakarta, Hyderabad, and Tokyo, as well as in South America (Sao Paulo) and Europe (Zurich). The C8gn instances deliver up to 30% improved compute performance compared to the previous Graviton3-based C7gn instances.
The C8gn instances incorporate the latest 6th generation AWS Nitro Cards and offer up to 600 Gbps of network bandwidth, marking the highest network bandwidth available among network-optimized EC2 instances. This advanced networking capability allows users to enhance performance and throughput while managing costs for network-intensive tasks such as network virtual appliances, data analytics, and CPU-based artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) inference.
For users requiring greater scalability, C8gn instances provide sizes up to 48xlarge, with a maximum of 384 GiB of memory and up to 60 Gbps of bandwidth to Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS). Additionally, these instances support Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) networking on sizes including 16xlarge, 24xlarge, 48xlarge, metal-24xl, and metal-48xl, which reduces latency and enhances cluster performance for tightly coupled workloads.
The C8gn instances are now available across various AWS Regions, including US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Oregon, N. California), Europe (Frankfurt, Stockholm, Ireland, London, Spain, Zurich), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Malaysia, Sydney, Thailand, Mumbai, Seoul, Melbourne, Jakarta, Hyderabad, Tokyo), Middle East (UAE), Africa (Cape Town), Canada West (Calgary, Central), South America (Sao Paulo), and AWS GovCloud (US-East, US-West).
