Amazon EC2 C8id instances are now available in Europe (Spain)

Amazon has launched its C8id EC2 instances in Spain, featuring enhanced performance and flexible resource allocation for various workloads. These instances are also available in multiple regions worldwide.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the availability of its C8id instances in the European region, specifically in Spain. These instances are part of the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and are powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors.

The C8id instances offer impressive specifications, featuring up to 384 virtual CPUs (vCPUs), 768 GiB of memory, and 22.8 TB of NVMe SSD storage. Compared to the previous generation C6id instances, they provide up to 43% higher performance and 3.3 times the memory bandwidth.

These new instances are particularly beneficial for I/O intensive database workloads, delivering up to 46% better performance and enabling query results to be produced up to 30% faster in real-time data analytics scenarios than their sixth-generation counterparts.

Moreover, the C8id instances introduce an Instance Bandwidth Configuration feature, which allows for a flexible allocation of resources between network and Elastic Block Store (EBS) bandwidth. This flexibility ensures that resources can be optimally distributed according to the specific requirements of each workload.

Ideal use cases for C8id instances include compute-intensive tasks such as high-performance web servers, batch processing, distributed analytics, ad serving, video encoding, and gaming servers.

Currently, C8id instances are available not only in Spain but also in several other regions, including US East (N. Virginia and Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (Frankfurt and Spain), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo). Customers can acquire these instances through various purchasing options, including Savings Plans, On-Demand instances, and Spot instances.
