Amazon EC2 I7ie instances expand to more AWS regions

Amazon EC2 I7ie instances are now available in additional AWS regions, including several in Asia Pacific and Europe, as well as Mexico. These instances offer enhanced performance and storage capabilities for intensive workloads.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the availability of Amazon EC2 I7ie instances in several new regions. Starting today, these instances can be accessed in the Asia Pacific regions of Hong Kong, Seoul, Melbourne, and Thailand, as well as in Europe (Zurich and Milan) and the Central region of Mexico. These instances are specifically designed to handle large storage input/output (I/O) intensive workloads.

The I7ie instances are equipped with 5th Generation Intel Xeon Processors, boasting an all-core turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz. This configuration offers up to 40% improved compute performance and 20% better price performance when compared to the previous I3en instances. These instances provide up to 120TB of local NVMe storage, making them highly suitable for storage-optimized applications. Additionally, they offer twice the number of virtual CPUs (vCPUs) and memory compared to older generations.

Enhanced by the 3rd generation AWS Nitro SSDs, I7ie instances deliver significant improvements in storage performance. Users can expect up to 65% better real-time storage performance, a 50% reduction in storage I/O latency, and a 65% decrease in storage I/O latency variability, compared to I3en instances. This makes I7ie instances particularly beneficial for workloads that demand fast local storage with high random read/write performance and low latency consistency for accessing large datasets.

These high-density storage-optimized instances are available in nine virtual sizes, offering up to 100Gbps of network bandwidth and 60Gbps of bandwidth for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS). For more detailed information, interested parties can visit the I7ie instances page on the AWS website.
