AWS has launched new bundles for Amazon WorkSpaces using Microsoft Windows Server 2025, providing enhanced security and updated features. These are available in all AWS Regions where Amazon WorkSpaces operates.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the release of new bundles featuring Microsoft Windows Server 2025 for Amazon WorkSpaces Personal and Amazon WorkSpaces Core. These bundles allow users to deploy WorkSpaces using Windows Server 2025 and benefit from the latest features of the Windows server operating system. This update enables customers to run applications that require the most recent Windows versions, such as eligible Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise.

While existing bundles powered by Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 remain available, the introduction of Windows Server 2025 offers improved security and modern features. These include Trusted Platform Module 2.0 (TPM 2.0), Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Secure Boot, Secured-core server, Credential Guard, Hypervisor-protected Code Integrity (HVCI), and DNS-over-HTTPS.

Customers can begin utilizing the managed Windows Server 2025 WorkSpaces bundles or develop their own custom bundle and image to meet specific needs.
