Amazon EC2 C8gd and M8gd instances are now available in additional AWS regions
Amazon EC2 C8gd and M8gd instances are now offered in additional regions, including Sao Paulo and Ireland. Powered by Graviton4 processors, these instances provide enhanced performance for various workloads.
Amazon has announced the availability of its Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) C8gd and M8gd instances in more regions, featuring up to 11.4 TB of local NVMe-based SSD block-level storage. Specifically, C8gd instances are now accessible in South America, particularly in Sao Paulo, while M8gd instances can be found in Europe, specifically in Ireland.
These new instances are powered by the latest AWS Graviton4 processors, which provide up to 30% improved performance compared to their predecessor, the Graviton3. For workloads that require intensive input/output operations, these instances deliver up to 40% higher performance for database applications and achieve query results that are up to 20% faster for real-time data analytics when compared to similar Graviton3-based instances.
Built on the AWS Nitro System, the C8gd and M8gd instances are ideal for applications that require high-speed and low-latency local storage. Each instance type is offered in 12 different sizes, accommodating a variety of workload needs.
Furthermore, these instances support up to 50 Gbps of network bandwidth and can provide up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth to the Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS). Customers now have the option to adjust the network and EBS bandwidth on these instances by 25% through the EC2 instance bandwidth weighting configuration, enhancing the flexibility of resource allocation for optimal workload performance.
The instances also feature Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) networking for the 24xlarge, 48xlarge, metal-24xl, and metal-48xl sizes, catering to high-performance computing requirements.
